Inspiration

I was exploring AR and AirPods Pro's motion sensor API when I thought why not use 3D audio for blind people to navigate the world at a micro-level.

What it does

Eye Maps is an app that creates indoor 3D audio maps to guide blind people in unfamiliar places such as a new restaurant or an airport or in familiar places such as their house. Users can place 3D audio in the real world and guide the user.

How we built it

We built this app using SwiftUI, RealityKit, Firebase, ARKit, and a whole lot of determination and problem-solving.

Challenges we ran into

Over the many hours dedicated to this project, we faced a few challenges. The biggest difficulty was saving world data and correctly routing the audio from step to step. We overcame this by reviewing a lot of open source code and a huge chunk of problem-solving.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we can say that this weekend we helped people live better lives and that is a great feeling!

What we learned

We learned that time management is key during a hackathon.

What's next for Eye Maps

We look forward to expanding its capabilities and bringing the app to TestFlight for further testing and eventually a debut on the App Store.
