Inspiration

Wanted to make the process of picking up new subjects easier instead of being overflowed with Junk of information.

What it does

Takes the topic and what the user know about that topic(Optional) and adjusts it to the user's input level (beginner, intermediate, expert)

How we built it

We built it using python for a backend, HTML/CSS/JS for frontend.
We also used the groq-api which throws the json object to make a visual graphical nodes.

Challenges we ran into

Limited use of tokens
Width of the web not fitting well
Glitchy nodes when mouse hovers over
Loading errors when diving into nodes

We learned the actual use of API's and use of local storage of browser for the saving part.

What's next for EverNodes

Making the flowchart which looks more smooth, interactive and polished.

I handled the backend I built the Flask API, the prompt engineering that gets sent to the AI, and the caching and retry logic. Getting the model to return clean, structured JSON every single time without hallucinating edges, without truncating, without breaking the node hierarchy took way more iteration than I expected. I also built a separate leaner endpoint for the Dive Deeper feature specifically to keep token usage low so we weren't burning through the API budget every time someone explored a node.
The Dive Deeper feature was the suddenly came up idea at mid-hackathon. I thought, what if a child node could become its own parent and keep expanding? So I built that out live. The right-side panel that tracks your dives, the sub-graphs, the portal view, particle bursts when you mark something learned, saved maps all of that came together piece by piece.
My teammates were huge throughout -- bouncing ideas, debugging together, and keeping momentum when things got stuck. Couldn't have shipped it without them. A big shout to @Laviedotone Lavie and @Anurag Karn
