Inspiration

Having both come from musical backgrounds, we both know the late nights, early mornings, and thousands of hours of frustration just to be able to perform in front of the communities that we love. But, often times our concerts, other art galleries, and heartfelt poems are attended by just family members. Local youth art is not getting the recognition it deserves and we hope to change it. From the elderly population to aspiring students, we know the community is interested in such artistic performances, but is often times unfortunately and innocently unaware that they are taking place. EventMaster aims to bring together a community of passion for art and recognize the hard and sincere work of our youth.

What it does

Users come to EventMaster either to promote an artistic event, help others by offering to drive carpoolers to an event, and those who would like to carpool. Starting with the front page, clients are invited to review the benefits of all three options. Upon selecting the Event Organizer's Profile, they are brought to a satisfying page reviewing the details and recognizing them in taking this step to better recognize the hardwork of the artists. Scrolling to the bottom, the event organizers are able to add in vital information that will be added to an event list for drivers and carpoolers to choose from and later recorded on the event receipt. If the client is a driver, they are welcomed with the Drivers Hub which congratulates and recognizes the driver for taking that extra step towards helping the community by offering to help others drive to the event. Drivers are notified of the environmental, financial, and opportunistic benefits of carpooling as the driver and are led towards the driver sign in where they create a profile for carpoolers to see and contact if needed. Following the sign in, Drivers are led to the Event List Page where they will select the event they are willing to carpool others to from a list of events created by Event Organizers. In the end, Drivers will then receive a route on a map of where they will drive to pick up the carpoolers and later on drive to the final destination. Following the map is basic information linked to the event and the other carpoolers. Finally, Carpoolers will go through a speedy process to sign in, select their event from the event list, and be able to view the eventreceipt with all the necessary details such as the credentials of the driver, other carpoolers, the event details, route, and a form in case they would like the contact the driver.

How we built it

Hardwork, dedication, and lots of time (sacrificed eating dinner late - writing this at a time where we don't even know if dinner still exists anymore)

Challenges we ran into

Communication, changing the trajectory of the entire project, trips to the bathroom, eating enough food for energy to keep our brains working, fighting off sleep demons -> one of us slept 3 hours prior (coming from a 12 hour road trip)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We originally were going to attend Ridge Hacks with another of our friends, but he was unable to make it, unfortunately. Knowing that most teams consist of 4 hardworking students, we were discouraged of our chances (having only two team members) and were considering dropping out, but we decided to push against the odds and attend to see what we would create. In the end, our love for hackathons persisted beyond hardship and difficulty to create a project that will live to see the day with pride.

What we learned

We learned a lot about HTML's, CSS's, and JS's more complex factors such as creating transitions upon scrolling or loading a screen, the organization and complexity of managing multiple pages, connecting data from page to page to create relevant data and useful summaries, new design tactics specifically in the artistic them of Brutalism, comment on code efficiently to enhance organization,

What's next for EventMaster

In the future, EventMaster hopes to connect with various media platforms to extend its influence and positive impact for passionate art events. Additionally, EventMaster hopes to create more opportunities for events in general and stay free with minimal use of ads to allow easy entry and access towards future events. The program also intends to expand in more environmental directions such as helping reduce emissions through calculators, data visualization, and green assistants alongside its carpooling coordinator.
