Inspiration
Keeping track of events across different platforms, group chats, and calendars can quickly become overwhelming. Important events get buried in messages, forgotten, or clash with other commitments simply because there isn’t a single place to view them all clearly. EventHub was inspired by the need for a centralized, simple way to organize and view events without friction, especially for students, communities, and small organizations.
What it does
EventHub helps people bring events into one unified calendar view for easier planning and discovery. Users can create events, view upcoming activities in a clear format, and keep track of what’s happening without juggling multiple tools or apps. The goal is to reduce confusion and make event participation more accessible and organized.
How we built it
EventHub was built as a web application using a modern frontend and backend stack. The frontend focuses on simplicity and usability, while the backend handles event data storage and retrieval. We structured the app around core features first—event creation, listing, and calendar-style viewing—then refined the UI to keep interactions intuitive. Version control was used throughout development to iterate quickly and safely.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was designing a clear and intuitive calendar experience without overcomplicating the interface. Balancing functionality with simplicity required multiple iterations. Another challenge was managing data consistency while updating and displaying events in real time, especially as features evolved during development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a fully functional event platform within a hackathon timeframe
Creating a clean, unified event view that solves a real organizational problem
Successfully planning, designing, and implementing the project end-to-end
What we learned
Through EventHub, we learned how to scope features realistically, prioritize core functionality, and iterate quickly under time constraints. We also gained experience in full-stack development, UI/UX decision-making, and translating a real-world problem into a working technical solution.
What's next for EventHub
Future plans for EventHub include:
User authentication and personalized calendars
Event sharing and RSVP functionality
Integration with external calendar services
Improved filtering and discovery features
EventHub has strong potential to grow into a more robust platform that helps people stay organized and connected through events.
