Inspiration
We saw someone wheeling around one of those big ol plants. Also we named it after the Eve robot from Wall E that protected a plant.
What it does
its an autonomous robot that has a plant on it and its goal is to try to keep the plant alive by using sensor data of air quality, light, and temperature, and it will move around to try to keep it alive. It will also ask the owner to feed it water occasionally, meant to be like a cute pet that encourages people to be more aware of the environment and about plants in a fun way! Can also help with emotional recovery!
How we built it
We put two wheels on a chassis and put a lot of sensors on it, then put a plant on top :)
Challenges we ran into
We tried to use stepper motors initially, but we had trouble with that so we converted to DC motors, also the sensor data becomes largely converted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It moves! The air quality sensor works! The distance sensor works! The light sensor works!
What we learned
It is hard to build a working robot in only a couple of hours, also with better planning things would've gone faster
What's next for EvE
EvE may be found roaming around your home in the far future, as a plant friend/pet!
