Inspiration

The inspiration behind Esports Guru came from a desire to create a fun and engaging visual spectacle that brings users closer to the vibrant and dynamic world of esports.

What it does

Esports Guru is designed to transform the appearance of the Opera GX browser, using the resources and designs I've curated. By applying this mod, users can experience a unique esports-themed look and feel, enhancing their browsing experience with the vibrant energy of competitive gaming.

How we built it

Language: JavaScript was the primary language used for building this mod. Manifest: An essential part of building the mod was drafting the manifest, which serves as a foundational blueprint for the mod's structure and functionalities. Resources: I collected various sounds and imagery to create a rich and immersive experience for users of the mod.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge I encountered was the inability to use the fs modules within extensions. This limitation meant that I had to rethink and adapt the mod's design to ensure it still delivered an engaging user experience without the planned game data display.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overcoming Technical Limitations: Despite the challenge with the fs modules, I managed to develop a mod that still delivered on its promise to immerse users in the esports world. Resource Collection: Curating sounds and imagery that truly capture the essence of esports was no small feat. I'm proud of the collection and how it has enhanced the user experience. Adaptability: Facing issues and adapting the mod's design on the fly to ensure a seamless user experience was a testament to my problem-solving skills.

What I Learned

One of the key things I learned while working on this project is that accessing the fs modules in extensions can lead to errors. I had initially planned to display various game data within the mod, but encountered issues reading the files without the fs module.

What's next for Esports Guru

Integration with Live Esports Data: I aim to find alternative solutions to the fs module challenge and integrate live esports scores, news, and updates directly into the mod.
