Inspiration

During a community service program in the Kei Islands of Maluku, one of ERASE WASTE’s team members was introduced to an environmental issue that the citizens there were concerned with: waste thrown into the ocean. Instead of the ocean sustaining its aesthetic values and its ecosystem’s health, it is being polluted with harmful waste. The citizens were aware of the problem their environment was experiencing, yet there was nothing that they could do to help prevent it from happening. They did have in mind that the most practical way to quickly act upon the issue was to burn their waste; however, they desired to avoid harming their environment even more. With the ongoing issue, they had hoped that a system where they could exchange waste with groceries existed. That was the moment when the aspiration to create an easily, accessible platform that could be of convenient help to everyone emerged; that rooted the fundamental idea of ERASE WASTE.

What it does

The ERASE WASTE app enables everyone - from individual households to industries of varied-sized companies throughout Indonesia - to sell their waste and earn money to their E-wallet. In short, this app is a platform that acts as the middlemen between waste sellers and SMEs (small and medium enterprise) and large industries that utilize recycled materials to create new environment-friendly products. This app will also have a marketplace feature that allows business enterprises that have bought the recycled waste from ERASE WASTE to digitally sell their products. ERASE WASTE is not just a friend that will help any Indonesian citizen gain profit, but will also be a companion to bring Indonesia to take a step closer in living sustainably!

How we built it

We built this web application with a lot of objectives taken into account, some of them were: a pleasing appearance, in terms of its color palette and its layout design, and a profitable platform that could survive in the midst of other apps. Throughout the creation process, a lot of discussion and communication were involved.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we faced were: trying to figure out how to maneuver .bubble, coming up with a business strategy on how to monetize our app, and figuring out the aspects that our web application should include so that the public would download our app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that our team has come up with a solid business plan and has overcome all the technical difficulties we experienced.

What we learned

We learned how to create a non-code web application on .bubble. We also acknowledge how working as a team to create a big project with an unfamiliar medium required a lot of communication.

What's next for ERASE WASTE
