Inspiration

We met Sunita, a maid, who has 3 daughters and is the only earning member of her family. She has to manage her household expenses, along with the educational expenses of her children, keeping aside some funds for emergency situations(like medical emergencies). Somehow she managed to educate her children till high school but is unable to afford their education at the university level. But she also wants to make them financially independent. So, we talked to one of her daughters and came to know that she has an interest in computers but doesn’t know how to operate them. So, at that moment I figured out that there are many such people, especially young women, homemakers or community who want to contribute financially but can’t find ways to learn those skills. So, we have created a platform for them to gain relevant skills and become financially independent.

Problem Statement

Marginalized individuals, including young women and homemakers struggle to acquire relevant skills and achieve financial independence due to limited access to quality education, financial constraints, and a lack of tailored technical resources. The absence of streamlined portfolio creation further hinders their employment prospects. To address these challenges, our project aims to create a web application that provides free skill development courses, job application support, portfolio generation assistance, and tailored technical resources. By bridging these gaps, we seek to empower marginalized individuals to acquire skills, secure employment, and overcome societal barriers, enabling them to thrive and contribute to society.

What it does

Features and Functionality

Course Registration:

Users can sign up and enroll in free courses provided by registered volunteers. Course Materials: Access to online learning materials, lectures, and resources.

Job Support Platform:

A dedicated section where verified learners can create their profiles and apply for relevant job opportunities.

Profile Display:

Qualified candidates' profiles are showcased to potential employers. Communication: Facilitate direct communication between employers and candidates for further evaluation and hiring.

Portfolio generator:

Not everyone is technically sound, so for those, it becomes very difficult to build their own resume or portfolio. So on our platform, there is also an option where they can just fill out a form with their details in it and based on that automatically a portfolio will be generated. Technical resources: In many coed colleges the opportunities which are specifically for female students are often not able to reach the ones who can benefit them. Therefore in our application, we also provide a section in which they can view all such opportunities with their timelines. In this, we also offer an interface in which they can explore the hackathons and get automatically matched with their teammates.

Find Teammates:

In university or colleges , it becomes very difficult to find teammates with desired skillsets that we are looking for in our team , so we give a platform to the users to find teammates in a very user-friendly interface manner .

E-commerce Platform for Learners:

Our platform offers a dedicated e-commerce feature that allows learners to showcase and sell products they have created using the skills they acquired through our courses. It provides a marketplace where learners can list their products, receive customer reviews, and securely process payments. This feature empowers learners to monetize their creations, reach a wider audience, and turn their newfound skills into tangible products and income streams.

How we built it

Flutter: We will use Flutter, a cross-platform framework, to build the mobile app for our e-commerce platform. Flutter allows us to develop a single codebase that can run on both iOS and Android devices, ensuring a consistent user experience across different platforms.

Firebase: We will leverage Firebase, a comprehensive backend platform, for various functionalities of our e-commerce platform. Firebase provides services such as real-time database, user authentication, and cloud storage, which are crucial for implementing features like product listings, user profiles, and secure payment processing.

Firestore: As part of Firebase, we will utilize Firestore, a NoSQL document database, to store and manage product data, user information, and order details. Firestore's real-time syncing capabilities will enable seamless updates and notifications for both sellers and buyers.

Firebase Authentication: We will integrate Firebase Authentication to handle user registration, login, and authentication processes. It offers various authentication methods, including email/password, social media log in, and third-party authentication providers, ensuring a secure and convenient login experience for users.

Stripe: For secure payment processing, we will integrate the Stripe payment gateway. Stripe provides a robust and developer-friendly platform for handling online payments, ensuring the safety and reliability of financial transactions between buyers and sellers.

Cloud Storage: Firebase's Cloud Storage feature will be utilized for storing and serving product images and other media files associated with the e-commerce platform. It provides scalable and cost-effective cloud storage solutions, ensuring efficient handling of multimedia content.

Website Development: HTML, CSS, Javascript using ReactJS framework

  5. Optional Assessment and Certification: Upon completing the courses, offers users the opportunity to validate their acquired knowledge and skills through an optional assessment. This certification serves as a testament to their industry-relevant capabilities, enhancing their credibility in the job market.

  6. Internship Opportunities: The platform goes a step further by assisting learners in securing valuable internships once they have obtained certification. These internships provide practical, hands-on experience in the user's chosen field, allowing them to apply their skills in a real-world setting and earn income simultaneously.

  7. Integration of Prior Knowledge and Experience: It recognizes the significance of building upon existing knowledge and experience. Our idea stands out due to its combination of personalized learning, expert guidance, comprehensive course selection, certification, and internship support. These unique features empower users in their journey towards acquiring relevant skills, advancing their careers, and bridging the gap between knowledge acquisition and real-world application.

What we learned

Teamwork and Collaboration Our team consisted of people with a variety of experinces in different technologies. In this hackathon, we learned how to come together and work as a team. Our learnings included effective communication, task delegation, and leveraging each team member's strengths.
