💡 Inspiration

We aimed to support individuals from minority backgrounds who perceived their status as a disadvantage, with the goal of assisting them in accessing opportunities to address these challenges.

💻 What it does

It is a platform that offers inspirational quotes from successful individuals belonging to minority groups, aiming to motivate those who have not yet achieved their goals by showing that success is attainable. In addition, the website features a searchable table of diverse opportunities, ranging from scholarships to internships, and users can contribute new potential entries to further encourage and empower success.

🔧 How we built it

  • UI design: Figma
  • Frontend: Next JS, React JS, Tailwind CSS
  • Backend: Django REST, Python

🧠 Challenges we ran into

  • Developing a form that can be filled out.
  • Placing images beside text presented a challenging design task that encountered at least three distinct errors during the implementation process.
  • Creating Forum discussion with a connect feature and like posting feature.
  • Designing a navigation bar.

🥇 Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • I am a newbie in web development and participating in a hackathon, successfully constructed a functional website.
  • Succeeded developing meet communities feature, forum discussion, and job-ready network in a short time.

📚 What we learned

  • We learned how to use NextJS, ReactJS, and Django REST to create a website with images, text, and forms.

✈️ What's next for Empowering Tech Minorities

In our plans for future enhancements, we aim to incorporate a dedicated page where students can discuss concerns linked to their minority status, providing a platform for others to respond. Additionally, we intend to facilitate networking opportunities by allowing users to share their social media profiles, LinkedIn, and other relevant information.
