Inspiration

We wanted to bring awareness to how difficult it is to be visually impaired and perform day-to-day activities.

What it does

It resembles a visually impaired individual attempting a “simple” task of retrieving a snack after waking up.

How we built it

This program was built with the Godot VR engine from MIT and steamVR application.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we ran into were lack of experience and lack of updated information for the most recent Godot version.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to get a general working simulation due to our inexperience in this field and our short time limit.

What we learned

We gained experience for creating VR games and truly learned for ourselves just how hard it is for visually impaired people to do “simple” tasks, even moving around in their own house.

What's next for Empathy Goggles

What could be next for Empathy Goggles is to implement the hearing of a visually impaired individual. This can be done with audio presets and accurate implementation.
