Empathera

Pressure ulcers are open wounds that form from prolonged pressure on any part of the body. Patients require complex, repetitive, and frequent care from healthcare workers to ensure they don't form, which places significant burdens upon nurses and healthcare systems. Empathera is developing the StimSense System, an autonomous device that uses continuous pressure data from bedridden patients to inform strategic stimulations and prevent pressure ulcer development. Its implementation has the potential to protect patients and aid caretakers alike, all while avoiding the preventable expenses of pressure ulcer treatment for healthcare systems.
