Inspiration
Students and adults often struggle with knowing how they feel which leads to the lack of emotional expression and taking time off for themselves. Knowing this, this app is dedicated to comforting and guiding those through difficult times.
What it does
This app allows users to select an emotion that best aligns with their current mood witch brings them to more specific words to illustrate their feelings. Lastly, a pop up of affirmation is implemented for the last emotion selected to promote positivity and exercise optimism.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
The time constraint added a lot of pressure especially towards the end when our code was not compiling. Often, this was caused by inconsistencies between push/pull requests. Due to dedicating a huge amount of time trying to fix errors, we ran out of time to include images for second layer emotions and a logo.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the last minute challenges, we were able to compile a successfully running file with functionality that demonstrates our ideas well. We are also proud of the idea we came up with as we believe it is meaningful and an oftentimes overlooked aspect of our daily lives.
What we learned
We learned how to properly utilize git and importance of its features for a group project. It was also our first time using VScode as the coding environment. Moreover, good communication, splitting of work, and time management is crucial in efficiently completing a project like this.
What's next for Emotional Awareness
Adding a third layer more more specific emotions and providing resources to help the user beyond just simple words of affirmation.
