Inspiration
We recognize how imperitive it is to change the way we think about our carbon footprint and how we treat the environment.
What it does
The application lets you enter a destination and starting point. It then calculates the distance, and your carbon emissions based on the type of car you drive. Alternate, more environment friendly options are also proposed after calculating your emission.
How we built it
We used html, python, and javascript. Python was used for the calculations, and HTML and Javascript was used for the web application
Challenges we ran into
We had a lot trouble connecting the python to the html code. We weren't able to get coordinates from our map into the python code. In the future, this will be what we hope to improve in the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As this was our first hackathon, we are proud that we used javascript for the first time, and used languages that we weren't confident in. We had also never used an API before, so we were proud we could do that.
What we learned
How to make web applications and combine different languages.
What's next for eMission
We will make a lot of improvements to connect our codes, so user input runs smoothly from html to python and javascript. Hopefully we could also add more complexity, and a more friendly UI.
