Inspiration Apparel returns are rampant because sizing is off and impulse buys slip through. That means extra trucks, repackaging, reprocessing, and—when items can’t be resold—textiles in landfill. We built Emergrade to stop bad purchases before they ship: fast, credible virtual try-on to boost size confidence and a real-time Impulse Risk Index to nudge second thoughts at checkout. Fewer returns, lower costs, lighter footprint. No greenwash—just fewer wasteful shipments.
What it does
Emergrade is a B2B, API-first checkout add-on that redirects shoppers to a fast virtual try-on and generates an Impulse Risk score from interaction signals, then posts the result back to the merchant. It helps brands cut impulse purchases and returns—reducing costs and waste—while exposing clear KPIs on impact.
How we built it
We built Emergrade without sleep for 16 hours, and we all have backgrounds in third-world countries, so we obsess over practical, low-cost solutions that actually ship and work in messy real-world conditions. That grit drove an API-first prototype, a fast virtual try-on, and models tuned for noisy data, effective, and aimed squarely at cutting impulse buys and returns.
Challenges we ran into
Language barrier, some of our teammates are not really good in english, we came from the community that these problem directly affect.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
one of my teammates Ian grew up Ghana, and he finally make it out of Ghana to Canada
What we learned
We learned a lot about the struggle of each others that directly affect our project that help us be more involved with the issues
What's next for Emergrade
The future of Emergrade is we planned to implement Live EEG tracking.
