Inspiration
My inspiration came from a coding camp I did last summer, Kode With Klossy. I was able to learn about how big the gender gap in STEM is and how it's continuing to grow. Women feel uninspired and discouraged to enter the STEM field because of stereotypes and the lack of diversity. This is why I decided to create my website. I wanted people to be empowered and inspired to join the STEM field. I wanted them to realize how many opportunities there are.
What it does
It displays many data visualizations showing the lack of diversity in STEM and with that, gives you many opportunities that you can look through and learn about. It also has a page where you can write your thoughts. You can also add in ideas for more opportunities! You can add the thoughts as public, or add them as private for your own thoughts. This is where logging in comes in. You can log in as a member and be able to post your thoughts as private.
How we built it
I built this with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and data.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult creating the login form. As coding the signup button at the end, it was difficult to make it actually log in. It would keep on saying "Not Found" but then eventually tweaking things here and there, I was able to code it properly so it will login and bring you back to the page.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the share page and the login page.
What we learned
I learned that sometimes, the code will not always work and function the way you want it to. But that does not mean you should give up. No matter how long it takes, you have to keep on going!
