Inspiration
We've talked to eGym and they pointed out that training new service technicians is cumbersome and doesn't scale well. We've identified a common use-case: Changing the SSD. Furthermore we were told that still many people are not doing their workout exercises correctly.
What it does
eGym's HoloLens trainer has three modes. 1) Service-Technicians can have a X-Ray view of the gym equipment to see how a device is assembled. 2) Service-Technicians can do a tutorial on how to fix a certain problem. 3) Gym members/instructors can use the workout mode to see how a virtual avatar is doing the exercise on the real device.
How we built it
1) Created visual 3D content that represents the individual components. 2) Attached a permanent marker (QR-Code) to identify the device. 3) Positioned the content relative to the marker. 4) Creating tutorial animations. 5) Creating different scenes for service and workout use case. 6) Creating workout animations. 7) Putting it all together.
Challenges we ran into
Correct placements / Match of visual and real content. Human animations for the correct workout execution.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Different using modes.
- Animations.
- Combination of real content and virtual content.
What we learned
