Inspiration
It is always a hassle for students when going to class with no tissues or pencils to use. It is even more annoying for teachers as they feel like it can be taking away from learning time. Janitors themselves need a systematic method of having to know which classes need which resources.
What it does
Quickfix is a website made to allow better communication between the staff and students of a school. It allows janitors and tech employees to get instant messages from teachers and students, in which they are notified of an issue they need to fix and where exactly the issue is.
How we built it
To create the QuickFix website, we used HTML for its basic structure. CSS and Bootstrap were used to style the website and Javascript was used for some basic functionalities.
Challenges we ran into
At first, we were not sure how to directly send an email from the website itself. We also were not sure how to make the website more presentable but Bootstrap helped us out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As this is the first hackathon for most members, we are proud to create a functional website that solves a real life issue.
What we learned
We learned how to connect the website to directly email the janitor, how to create hovering buttons and checkboxes, and how to make a website look more visually appealing besides using CSS.
What's next for QuickFix
We want to add a forum that allows users to see the status of their existing tickets raised. Instead of just sending emails, there will also be a spreadsheet of all the tickets for the janitors' side of this application.
