EcoWealth

Inspiration

We were motivated by the desire to create a user-friendly and practical app that not only helps users track their finances but also empowers them to make eco-friendly choices in their daily lives. This led us to call our project EcoWealth. By encouraging users to conserve energy and resources, we aimed to create a community of environmentally conscious individuals working together to build a better future for our planet.

What it does

Our app tracks user finances and suggests ways for them to better their communities by helping the environment through conserving energy and resources. It also has features that locate the nearest events and cleanups for the environmental cause, tracks the user's environmental activities and savings, calculates savings using the user's bill, provides a daily schedule of tasks that a user can do to help conserve energy or resources, and gives random ways to help the environment.

How we built it

We built the project using Justinmind which is a prototyping and wireframing tool to create apps. We designed the different parts of the projects ourselves and connected the whole app together. We also coded some parts of the project on the side.

Challenges we ran into

Creating the app was difficult as it was our first time using this software. Adding code through an SDK was tough as there were many problems that we faced. The software also had many limitations that we did not expect to encounter which led to hours being lost trying to find the solution. There were also not many resources online for Justinmind as it is a relatively unpopular software.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of our innovative ideas and the ways we implemented them. Overall, EcoWealth took a lot of time and effort but we are happy with the result because we think this can have a huge impact on the world.

What we learned

Throughout this process, we learned how to create a user-friendly app, design using various tools, and collaborate to come up with meaningful ideas. We also deepened our understanding of environmental sustainability .

What's next for EcoWealth

Implement a verification system to make sure that the users actually complete the task. This would include users having to upload pictures to community forums as a way to ensure the user really did the task. Partner with sponsors to create a leaderboard system where users use their EcoPoints to get gift cards or other rewards which would motivate users to complete more tasks. Add a feature that allows users to create fundraising campaigns for environmental causes.
