Inspiration ✨⭐

In a rapidly evolving world, where transportation plays a pivotal role in our lives, we envisioned EcoCommute as a catalyst for positive change. Our inspiration stems from the urgent need to address environmental challenges, reduce carbon footprints, and foster a global shift towards sustainable transportation solutions.

What it does 🔥🔥

Vehicle Pooling: EcoCommute facilitates ride-sharing and carpooling among users, reducing the number of single-occupancy vehicles on the road and promoting eco-friendly commuting.

Public Transport Route Generator: The app offers a powerful route planning tool that assists users in finding the most efficient and eco-friendly public transportation routes, promoting the use of mass transit.

Cargo Listings: Users can list and find opportunities to share cargo space in vehicles, reducing the need for multiple deliveries and optimizing resource use.

Transport-Related Hackathon Hub: EcoCommute provides a platform for transport enthusiasts and developers to collaborate on innovative solutions, fostering a culture of innovation in sustainable transportation.**

*Alerts by Train Stations, Etc.: Users receive real-time alerts and updates related to train stations and other transport hubs, ensuring they stay informed about any disruptions or changes to their travel plans.

Profile Feature: Users can create profiles to connect with other like-minded individuals and form communities centred around sustainable transportation.

Emergency SOS Feature: Safety is paramount, and EcoCommute offers an emergency SOS feature, allowing users to seek help and assistance during their travels.

How we built it 🏗️👷🏻‍♂️

We built it using brain, blood, and sweat. 🔥 Just kidding, we used flutter/dart, google's amazing firebase for everything 😎 firebase_storage, firebase_auth, cloud_firestore, lol, we also thought to use ml_kit from google but time was ticking and we had a shortage of time in between.

We also used openai_api to get the routes. We also used google_fonts and geo_locator.

Challenges we ran into ⛔🚫

A lot of challenges were there:

- IT TOOK 10-12 HOURS JUST FOR THE IDEA.

conflicts between teammates.
had to reconstruct everything after 2 hours of thinking of a new idea and had to reform a team.
the theme was hard to think of an idea.
one teammate is having an exam tomorrow (25th sept, 2023) and both have fever.

What makes it different from other apps like uber, blinkit?

Yes, all those things happen there as well, but let's understand this with an example:

has it ever happened with you that it's night time in your area and you JUST realize for tom's math exam you need a compass? and you forgot to buy it? :(( Well, it has happened to me several times and then my friend became my saviour because where he lives there are some special shops which are also opened at night time, so he goes there and buys a compass for me, in return, I give him money after the exam

exactly, the people in the app can set their desired vehicles and location from to which they can help in transporting stuff, this can be either done for free or can be paid, if they do it for free, their rating goes up, and they get discount coupons on additional things.

What we learned 📖📗

We learnt :

how to say "no, not today" to our fever and other obstacles.
we also learnt how to stay active till 1-3 am (midnight time)
we also learnt how to face huge errors.
along with that, we improved our touch on firebase_storage and flutter

What's next for EcoRoutify 📉📊

Just after the hackathon,

We have thought to first finish the whole dynamic part which is yet static due to shortage of time.
Also, we are thinking of adding graphs/charts and better analytics data which people can view.
We are also thinking of adding a special section for businesses to join the race and sell their products with proper insight.
We are also thinking about how to add realtime tracking using **IOT.
