Inspiration: In this busy world, humans are always trying to get somewhere, whether it is to work, or something else. However, time is valuable, and not everyone has the time to deal with traffic. In order to decrease traffic, we have to decrease the number of cars on the road.
What it does: Our app, EcoRider, is a user-friendly interface that can be used to find carpools and public transits to wherever you want to go easily and efficiently. Carpooling not only decreases cars on the roads, but also fights against pollution. This app integrates AI and google maps to find the most optimal use of transportation. You can also create a profile to find more people with mutual connections in order to find more people to carpool with.
How we built it: To create the actual website itself, we used node.js. We also used languages such as javascript, css and html. We used platforms such as Visual Studio Code and FireBase.
Challenges We Faced: We saw thousands of errors, and sometimes it was really difficult to go through hundreds of lines of code to find a small mistake and make sure that the app was functioning properly. Another challenge we faced was that all the code was only on one computer, so it was difficult for 4 people to work on it at once, often leading to 1 or 2 people working while the rest of the people were waiting.
