Inspiration

Our inspiration came from UT MicroFarm's values and the sustainable efforts being made by the hackathon itself. Food and packaging waste is a huge issue that is hard to combat on your own with resources and information for particular areas or specific recipes being sparse.

What it does

EcoBites! consolidates all this information and provides a way for users to cook more sustainably, reduce their waste, and recycle what can't as easily be reused.

How we built it

We utilized Framer and free photo and icon libraries to build our prototype.

Challenges we ran into

Time was one big challenge as well as the color palate, figuring out UI on Framer, and figuring out what buttons we needed to succeed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We made a really cool onboarding screen and believe we created a rad brand with the little time we had.

What we learned

We learned that sustainability needs to be increasingly accessible and also designed well! And that building a full-scale app in less than 24 hours is a challenge!

What's next for EcoBites!

EcoBites hopes to add more donation locations, packaging-free suggestions for shopping, and better ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle at home!
