Inspiration
Our project stems from a simple idea. The idea that our world is a precious one and its resources are not infinite. In today's world, all natural problems such as deforestation, air pollution, extreme climatic changes are often at the end of any conversation. We wanted to make something that influences people to look at the consequences of their actions. Everyday, every action that helps sustainability can be of significance. We wanted to express that to the people. Our project aims to educate people about the protecting the environment.
What it does
Our project is a very rudimentary 2d game that allows users to play 3 levels. Each level is basically a way for the user to learn to act against the environment pollution. We made the UI very simple, based on Hick's law, which means more simpler the UI is, the more effective it is. The basic storyline revolves around a person, the main character and a mentor for him. The mentor comes when the main chara
How we built it
We initially started with Unity and C# for a 3d game but we thought that our game should represent simple tasks effectively and so we decided to build a 2d game. We used Pygame for doing the scripting and Canva for the UI.
Challenges we ran into
It was very difficult to figure out the right technology for the task but as we got more comfortable with Pygame, we thought it was a great tool for a fundamental prototype of a game, like ours.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how simple, yet effective the UI is. We wanted to make the people believe that they can individually make an impact to prevent environmental pollution.
What we learned
We came together as a team, without having worked together ever before, to make new, innovative game and learn how to collaborate on projects with GitHub.
What's next for Eco Warriors
We are planning to make a bigger, more story-based version of the game. The user will be a common person willing to act to help avoid environmental pollution.
