Inspiration
Our team was inspired to find a way to make green initiatives fun and rewarding by gamifying the recycling experience!
What it does
On our platform, every user will have a personalized account that keeps track of their progress. A user will submit a picture to prove they have performed an act of sustainability. For this project's purpose, we are focusing on recycling. Every time a user submits their photo, they will earn points, or acorns as we call them, and they can use these points to build and maintain a virtual garden as well as accumulate acorns to redeem for real-world rewards!
How I built it
We used Github and VSCode to collaborate on the project. Javascript, CSS, and HTML files were developed and shared in this manner.
Challenges I ran into
The main challenge of this project was attempting to properly manage our time and appropriately delegate tasks so that we could have a working demo to present.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud that we achieved a somewhat working product in the short time we had!
What I learned
We all learned a lot about using react and we learned a lot about working under pressure for a deadline.
What's next for Eco Snaps
In the future, we will make it into a mobile app and implement all of the game and reward features that we talk about in our demo video, as well as make the entire visual more aesthetically pleasing.
