Inspiration

Our families both grow flowers and plants in our backyard gardens, and we see firsthand how, without experience or in-depth knowledge of which plants work best with what weather and soil types, there can be lots of trouble when it comes to creating a successful garden.

What it does

Users input their location and the plant that they are trying to plant, and using our weather & soil APIs and Gemini AI we tell our users if their plant will grow successfully in the area they plan on planting based on their soil type and weather in the upcoming days.

How we built it

We used React JS as our base for our website and used APIs to obtain the required weather and soil information from the location the user inputs. Using that information we obtained we put that information into a Gemini AI API to give us an output on whether the plant would grow successfully in those conditions.

Challenges we ran into

We had a few troubles when it came to integrating APIs into our website.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to integrate APIs into our projects and troubleshoot issues for larger-scale projects.

What's next for Eco Plant

In the future, we hope to expand Eco Plant by integrating more detailed soil data, AI-powered planting recommendations, and personalized gardening tips based on user habits.
