The Fashion Industry relies on 98 million tonnes of non-renewable resources per year

Because of a lack of transparency, people are pushed to trust brands that have continued to prioritize profit over everything else, including environmental. We need to change the system.

What is Eco.life

By introducing transparency to the rating system and pushing fashion companies to be more honest about their social and environmental initiatives, our app enables you to make better shopping decisions.

Transparency, we feel, is critical to creating systemic change in the global fashion sector. It is impossible to create an accountable and sustainable fashion industry without it. Our grading system prioritizes what matters most in the fashion industry, which is: People, Planet, and Animals.

Challenges

Lack of time, we planned many features and functionality, but the lack of time meant we ended up implementing basic features only. The data for the score calculation is very disparate and often in different sources which were hard to gather and regularize.

Accomplishments

  • We made a working platform.
  • We discovered various facets of the ecological, sociological, and sustainability impacts of fashion apparel.
  • We are able to provide a knowledge base for these metrics in an easy to consume manner.

What's next

  • Enhanced functionality for search
  • Enhanced functionality for alternative suggested products with lower impacts
  • Social sharing of conscious apparel shopping habits and activities
