Echo is an innovative educational platform designed to bridge the gap between reading and comprehension for K-12 students and adults. In response to declining literacy rates—28% of U.S. adults now rank at the lowest literacy levels—Echo empowers teachers to assign articles (URLs or PDFs) that students read and then verbally summarize or analyze in 1–3 minute recordings. Leveraging AI, the platform evaluates responses based on key points covered, logical coherence, vocabulary usage, and speech clarity, providing actionable feedback to improve comprehension. Built with React.js, Flask, Python, and OpenAI’s API, Echo combines cutting-edge technology with pedagogy to ensure users not only read words but truly understand them.
