Inspiration
When we found out about the theme of the Gameathon, we wanted our game to be set in a fictional outer space-themed world. We thought about having creatures that are capable of detecting you from afar, how a player should navigate to the heart of the creature's habitat in order to destroy their source of power and so on.
What The Game Is All About
The game is set in the Titan Colony, home to creatures capable of destroying humanity. It is our goal to destroy their heavily guarded Core, the source of their powers and return safely.
How We built it
We used Unity 3D in order to make this game. We created the Terrain using the terrain tools that are a part of Unity, Imported some assets like the aliens from the asset store and wrote scripts with the help of Youtube, Unity Documentation and the Unity Forums.
Challenges We ran into
One of the challenges that we faced when making this game was ensuring the game physics worked. We also faced issues with the game mechanisms.
Accomplishments that We're proud of
We're proud of our game and the efforts we poured into it. We also see the smooth working of our game as the biggest accomplishment.
What We learned
Over the last few days, we learned a lot on how to use the Unity Engine to create our own game from scratch. We learned about writing codes in C#, how to make the player and enemies interact with the environment, the inclusion of sounds, UI objects over the game screen, linking game scenes to each other and finally building and running our final game.
What's next for Echo Of The Aliens
We plan on continuing our work on this game and adding more features like animation effects, smoother gameplay, more levels and so on.
