Inspiration
Modern social media is often associated with negativity and unproductive time online. Our goal is to build a social platform where people can learn and grow together around shared passions and goals. Instead of endless scrolling, users join focused communities, collaborate toward common milestones, and share their progress with peers. Within these groups, members can offer advice, encouragement, and feedback, while real-time chat and discussion spaces make it easy to stay motivated and accountable.
What it does
Users join small, goal-oriented groups and work toward their goals together. Keeping groups compact makes it easier for people to genuinely connect and build a close-knit community. Members become more than just names and profile pictures—they become friends and companions on the same journey. They share their progress, offer support and advice, and celebrate each other’s wins.
Because personal growth can be challenging, users can also join temporary emotional support group chats, where they can talk through their struggles and form meaningful bonds. By sharing their journeys publicly within these communities, users inspire others to grow, stay accountable, and keep moving forward.
How we built it
We used Figma to design the core experience of the platform—from wireframes and user flows to high-fidelity mockups. This helped us quickly experiment with different layouts, interaction patterns, and visual styles before committing to a final direction.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was aligning different ideas and visions for the app. We had to reconcile conflicting concepts and find a shared direction that felt true to our mission. Translating those abstract ideas into visuals that matched the theme of the project also took multiple retries.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that our idea has the potential to genuinely help people grow and become a better version of themselves. Even at this early stage, we believe Echo App shows how social media can be used as a tool for encouragement, accountability, and personal development.
What we learned
We learned how to brainstorm effectively as a team, combine diverse viewpoints, and turn a collection of individual ideas into one coherent product vision. Along the way, we also gained experience in structuring features around user needs and prioritizing user empowerment.
What's next for the Echo App
Next, we plan to add more functionality, refine the user experience, and iterate on the design based on feedback from users and mentors.
