Inspiration
Over the past two years, there's been an immense increase in the consumption of video content, for entertainment and self-learning purposes. Unfortunately, a good number of people miss out on the rich content shared through videos and films, due to language barriers or speech impairments.
What it does
Our platform enables users to upload videos online, extracts the existing subtitles, and translates them into the users' preferred language.
How we built it
We leveraged C# in writing methods that enabled us to detect the language of the subtitles and translate to the users' preferred language.
Challenges we ran into
We could not load the subtitles because the video was not accepting the link to the file.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having an interactive user interface that enables a user to upload their video.
What we learned
How to work with Google Cloud APIs. How frontend development and blackened development work together, by implementing an interactive button that enables users to submit videos for subtitle translation.
What's next for EasySub
Implementing the translate subtitles module. Optimizing the application for a faster runtime. Launching the app for testing.
