Inspiration
Some of our team members had to plan a dinner with their friends a few days before the MACathon, and after the theme was revealed they remembered the tedious task of having to find a location best suited for everyone and taking into account everyones’ food preferences. So we decided to find a solution to automate this process.
What it does
Create a Group: Start by creating a group for your upcoming outing. Invite your friends and watch as the magic unfolds.
Individual Food Preferences: Each member of your group can input their food preferences. From sushi lovers to western food enthusiasts and seafood aficionados, EasyPlan caters to everyone's tastes. Simply mention your favorite cuisines, dietary restrictions, and more.
Location Preferences: Additionally, members can provide their addresses. EasyPlan then employs cutting-edge technology, including OpenAI integration, to analyze everyone's preferences and calculate the ideal cuisine that is in the best interest of the group.
Smart Location Selection: After determining the perfect cuisine, EasyPlan uses the Google Maps API to find restaurants or eateries that are not only suitable for the chosen cuisine but also fair for every participant. The app calculates distances to suggest convenient meeting points that minimizes commute inconveniences for everyone.
Challenges we ran into
Some of us are first years so it was very daunting to see alot of concepts coming together such as the integration of frontend and backend, using API’s,Libraries and learning how to use git.
What's next for EasyPlan
Easy plan could be made better through implementing a time feature to get a mutual time between friends and perhaps a sorting feature to sort through overall reviews, number of reviews or distance.
We can further integrate more user preferences such as costs, allergies, and vegan options, which will give more flexibility around finding the best suited restaurants for the group.
Ultimately, once EasyPlan builds traction with users, partnerships can be formed with restaurants and entertainment providers to provide deals and discounts to incentivise group decisions.
