Our project started with a simple frustration—manually entering printed schedules and event details into digital calendars. We realized many people rely on physical documents for their schedules, and transferring this information to digital calendars is time-consuming and tedious.
The Idea: We wanted to create a tool that would automatically convert text from images (like printed schedules) into digital calendar events. By leveraging Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and integrating it with an interactive calendar, we envisioned a seamless experience where users could simply drag and drop images to automatically populate events.
Building the Solution: Using React and Tesseract.js, we built a calendar interface that lets users add events through image scans. We added a countdown feature to automate image scans for recurring schedules, making it even more convenient.
Testing & Refining: Through user testing, we improved OCR accuracy and optimized the user experience. Today, our tool helps people save time and stay organized by automatically scanning and converting physical schedules into digital events.
The Impact: Our tool simplifies scheduling by bridging the gap between physical documents and digital calendars, offering an easy and efficient way to manage time. We hope it helps students, professionals, and event organizers stay on top of their busy schedules without the hassle of manual data entry.
