Inspiration

We have taken inspiration from the ongoing pandemic and tech giants such as Amazon and Walmart.

It's 2021 and everyone wants to buy products at the convenience of their home. So, Amazon and other tech giants are gaining profit. But at the same time, small businesses are facing difficulties in selling products. It becomes very important to support them, hence we decided to not only support them but also come up with a platform that stands at par with these e-commerce giants. Sometimes tech giants use biased algorithm/ ads to gain more profit which in turns promote big players and small businesses are ignored. So we are making an app that can help both sellers as well as customers to have the best experience.

Key Features

  • Helps small shops build a portfolio.
  • Helps sellers not only to post products on EaseCommerce but also on other sites.
  • No biased algorithm: Everything is based on how near the shop is from the user.
  • Provide sales support to the businesses.
  • Affordable plans for small businesses
  • Not only limited to shops but also for other types of businesses
  • Special bargaining feature: which benefits both the user as well as the business.

What it does

EaseCommerce makes it easy for small businesses to go online.

We have a portal that helps the business owner to make their portfolio, not only limited to EaseCommerce but on other e-commerce giant sites as well. Shops can sell their products on EaseCommerce and it is shown to the users without filtering through any biased algorithm. In addition to that, most of the sites are static in terms of pricing but EaseCommerce makes it easy for customers to bargain.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS, Javascript. We wanted to minimize the use of frameworks to enhance our skills so we used only limited frameworks like node.js, express.js. Apart from that, Leviathan managed backend and frontend both, managed the team, and planned everything out. Gaurika worked on designing and worked on each screen's UI. Quinn worked on the demo video and front end. Manan worked on the frontend as well as a little bit of backend and writing this out ;). In the end, it was a perfect team that ended up making a perfect project.

Challenges we ran into

We were all from 2 different timezones, and both timezones were almost opposite of each other, so there was a communication gap between us. Manan (I) was switching from backend to frontend so it did create some problems. My speed was a bit slow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We never stopped working: We were in different time zones that meant that while Teammate A was working, teammate B was sleeping and vice versa.

Not everyone was familiar with the technologies we were using. So teammates learned the technologies while making the project.

We are proud of the design we made everything from scratch in just 2 days. For some of us, it is the first hackathon where we have created

What we learned

Our teammates were from different backgrounds and hence learned using different technologies like Figma, node.js, bootstrap. We learned a lot of great things. The first one was how an e-commerce website works! Along with this, we learned the basics of payment gateways as well as cloud functions which we used to connect our app to our database which was hosted at MongoDB. We also learned how to implement link login. One of the teammates even switched from being a backend developer to being a full-stack developer.

Non-technical aspects: Working with a diverse team, working with people from different time zones.

What's next for EaseCommerce

We want to improve accessibility and spread the word via marketing. In addition to that, we have a long list of features that we have on our TODO list such as:

  1. Making android and iOS apps.
  2. Automating helping them with the help of AI.
  3. Using APIs of different sites to show products to users so that the user gets the best experience from the site.
  4. Adding paid plans so that EaseCommerce can sustain.
  5. Use powerful algorithm for bargaining feature such that it provides the best price to the user and the business is also in profit.
