Inspiration

The project was inspired by our group's shared love of gaming and the understanding that playing with people you know is often more enjoyable than playing with randoms, even if those friends started as strangers.

What it does

E-S-H allows gamers to notify others that they are seeking to play with others without having to make constant efforts to reach out and make contact, they can simply make a profile for a game explaining their rank, role, desire for casual or competitive play, how many players they need, server location, language, and more. Other users can then search for or use filters to find a list of currently online players and they can then reach out via a message or a direct invite.

How we built it

We built the project in react, creating two pages (a splash page and a content page) that would show the intended vision we had of the project, with game and profile data pushed from the back end.

Challenges we ran into

None of us have any web development experience at all, so this project was a huge undertaking by the group and a lot of learning was done in a very short time period. We struggled to share code across our computers making collaboration difficult, to implement many features such as routing, perfect formatting, connecting all aspects of the front and back end efficiently, and learning React.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the group's resolve to stick through adversity and work together to make possible the parts of our idea that we could.

What we learned

We learned a lot of everything all at once, front-end design features, back-end data management, CSS formatting, JavaScript, and the importance of managing expectations.

What's next for E-Sports-Harmony

E-H-S will be indefinitely put on hold while our members continue their pursuit to learn web development until it can be given the proper care it deserves.
