Inspiration
Many people are more aware of transgender issues, and more and more people are undergoing gender reassignment surgery. After the surgery, patients need to use a dilation device to maintain the vaginal cavity. The process is currently very painful, and we hope to be able to make a much less painful alternative. We plan to expand our product's market to serve the hundreds of thousands of women suffering from vaginismus and other vaginal deformities.
What it does
Our product will expand slowly within the patient, which is much less patient than inserting a full-size, rigid dilation device. The digital nature of our device will also provide much more information to make available to doctors to enhance the dilation and gender reassignment process in general. Some potential areas to explore are pressure sensors to better understand the discomfort that patients are experiencing and to be able to feed usage and pressure data to doctors to follow along with their patient's treatment and to individualize care.
