Driveway Swap

The high cost of travelling to and from work/university can be explained by a variety of factors but one of the highest costs incurred is the high tariff city centre and suburban parking zones. You'll notice that during normal working hours a large majority of houses have vacant driveways unused but also unavailable to the public. We are looking to build a community of drivers looking to save money on parking in and around the city centre. A key feature of the application is the use of the google maps API with and a mySQL database. Instead of looping through each location and working out its distance from the desired destination we worked out the average distance that a degree of longitude and a degree of latitude represent and filtered out the markers that were outside the radius inside the select statement.
