Inspiration

9 people die every day from distracted driving and cell phone use leads to 1.6 million crashes every year

What it does

DriverAware uses computer vision to detect eye and head movement and determine if you are paying attention to the road. If the driver is not watching the road, DriverAware alerts the driver.

How we built it

We used Python and Opencv modules to detect faces and eyes.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing a sound system

-The sound system caused a lag in the video frames

-It did not work across all of our devices (Windows and Mac)
