Inspiration
We wanted a single, lightweight web app that replaces the dozens of tiny tools students and creators juggle every day. The goal: one simple place for small tasks — from cropping thumbnails to daily DSA practice — without the clutter.
What it does
Doqo bundles many micro-tools: image cropper, idea-niche suggester, notepad, todo manager, pomodoro and box-breathing timers (with engaging animations), typing test with analysis, daily aptitude/DSA practice with timed answers and explained approaches, word-meanings with example uses, sticky note wall, random curiosity tasks, two-word daily English boosters, smart study timer, simple finance advisor, student mental-health buddy, AI career mapper, PDF summarizer, image generator, healthy low-budget meal advisor for your family, sports info, quotes/facts, and more. It also shows the day’s importance and date, and keeps navigation minimal.
How we built it
We kept the frontend minimal and fast using a modern JS framework for responsive UI, light/dark themes, and animated timers (tree/home growth tied to timer progress). The backend handles syncing, user data, and calls to your Gemini API for AI features (idea generator, chatbot, career mapper, summarizer, image gen). Everything is modular so each micro-tool can be updated independently.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was keeping the experience simple while packing many utilities — avoiding feature creep and ensuring each tool feels lightweight. Syncing state across devices and making timed flows (aptitude + typing tests) reliably smooth also required careful engineering.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a coherent, single-page experience where diverse micro-tools feel unified and easy to reach. Interactive timers with visual progress animations and the Gemini-powered features (idea niches, mental-health buddy, summarizer) deliver noticeable value without overwhelming the user.
What we learned
Less is more: users prefer clear, single-purpose interactions over buried options. Small, delightful animations (growth, build) greatly improve focus and habit formation. Integrating AI works best when models assist, not replace, user control.
What's next for Doqo
Polish AI personalization (tune prompts for your Gemini key), add collaborative pockets for study groups, tighter integrations with calendars/cloud storage, richer reports for typing/aptitude progress, and an optional mobile PWA for offline micro-utility access.
