Inspiration
Doc Sonar was inspired by a need to reduce, if not completely eradicate, waiting times in hospitals. Being able to book all your hospital appointments in one place and not having to worry about if you will get attended to was our motivation to develop Doc Sonar.
What it does
The point of our app is to address how people struggle with finding clinics and how medical information like that isn't as accessible as it should be. Along with how difficult it can be booking appointments on multiple websites. This one brings these ideas together to find everything in one place. It serves as an app to book appointments with a series of medical professionals along with redirecting you to a walk-in clinic/emergency rooms near you. There are numerous functions and screens, all that are very accessible along with the information being simple to understand and read. This allows for those who have trouble reading the fine print to finally have an app of comfort.
How we built it
Our app was built using Figma. We explored numerous tutorials and learned how to create a fully-functioning prototype along with learning how to attach screens to create a smooth and nice experience. We used Google as a learning engine for us to explore new ideas and get familiar with some of the other programs we learned. We used notion to organize our ideas and create a framework for us to operate on. Finally, our teamwork and cooperation led us to creating this amazing app.
Challenges we ran into
We did run into a couple of challenges. One would be that every single member of our team had a different time zone. One was from CST, 2 were from EST, and one was from BST. This did cause confusion in terms of deadlines, but we figured it out by listing everyone's times near our deadlines and creating a nice schedule that everyone would be able to communicate properly in. We are all novices so, we were inexperienced and confused on a lot. Attending the workshops and looking at tutorials aided us in terms of knowledge which allowed us to pull through this challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our ability to work as a team and efficiently complete our task. Together we came up with ideas, and made sure we were all on the same page to avoid any confusion.
What we learned
While working on this project, we learned a lot about Figma and how we could use it to better develop our idea. We also learned that healthcare is not as accessible as it seems to be. We also learned a lot from the workshops we attended such as the flutter workshop in where we were introduced to a new type of coding. We also learned numerous resources that we can use to create a fully functioning app and hope to use it in the near future.
What's next for Doc Sonar
After making this prototype, we would like to get started on coding the app and making it useable. In the future, we hope that Doc Sonar can work with all types of clinics and doctors to make the app more serviceable to all types of people. We also hope that this app can be used globally to help anyone and everyone receive the medical care they need.
