Inspiration

There is countless articles, videos and advice on how to lose weight or gain muscle or even just be healthy. However they just don't always work, its easy to get frustrated and lose interest when you have put countless hours doing everything you are told to do but don't get any results. In fact, a study of 159 recorded GP-patient consultations found that ~97% of weight-loss advice was “abstract or general” (e.g., “change your lifestyle a bit”), and only ~20% of consultations included concrete, tailored suggestions. However remember consultations cost money and if only 20% give tailored advice is it really worth it? Even more according to eating well, many experts now say the “eat less, move more” mantra is overly simplistic — it ignores variation in metabolism, hormones, genetics, stress/sleep, and non-exercise activity.

So whats the solution?

What it does

The solution is my app which,

  • Has tailored AI advice given your exact DNA so it becomes targeted for you.
  • Advanced diet plan capabilities using an advanced scoring system to rate dishes for you to eat.
  • Advanced algorithms designed for speed such as custom made binary search, and quicksort. -Exercise advice as well as diet plans.
  • Chatbot with custom personalities which acts as a mentor in your health journey

How we built it

The app is completely made in python, using custom-tkinter for the frontend and python in the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Finding and integrating an AI model that could analyze DNA and provide suggestions. Creating advanced algorithms to maximize speed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making an fully working project in 10 hours solo, with complex features.

What we learned

I learned about quicksort algorithms and chatbot integration.

What's next for DNA buddy

New features, maybe hardware along with it to help track health stats like with the apple watch.
