What it does
Divest India is a web platform that allows users to co-own real estate properties in small, affordable fractions—similar to buying stocks. Users can browse verified listings, invest as low as ₹10,000, and track rental returns and property value trends in a clean, dashboard-style UI.
How we built it
We used React with Tailwind CSS for the frontend, Firebase Authentication for secure login, and Firestore to store user portfolios and property data. Property trends were visualized using Chart.js, and the app was hosted using Render’s free tier to stay lightweight and scalable.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was building a stock-market-style platform using only free-tier tools. Balancing real-time UI, security, and user experience without exceeding Firebase limits took careful planning. Creating realistic property data for a convincing demo was also tricky.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a full MVP with secure authentication, working investment flow, and real-time dashboards—all using free tools. We're proud of creating a clean user experience and a compelling simulation of fractional real estate investing within a tight resource limit.
What we learned
We learned how to manage user authentication, store and query structured investment data, and design financial dashboards that build user trust. We also gained experience in deploying full-stack apps using free services like Firebase and Render efficiently.
What's next for Divest India
We plan to onboard real developers, list actual properties, and introduce real money co-investment flows. Future updates will include AI-driven ROI predictions, a resale marketplace for property shares, and blockchain integration for secure ownership records.
