Inspiration

My inspiration was my experience working with local minority communities and being a member of a minority group as well. Through my job I have come across a range of local groups with interest in space exploration , but are unaware of ways to get involved.

What it does

This project analyzes the current state of NASA JSC's diversity and how to improve their inclusion of those local communities.

How we built it

I built this project using open data available from NASA as well as the city, and needs assessments to create visualizations based on current state and future needs.

Challenges we ran into

However, there was some difficulty finding enough open data available to be used for analysis.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of the visualizations I created using Tableau with city data as well as data from a needs assessment.

What we learned

I learned that census-type data is the most readily available versus data on desires/needs of a community.

What's next for Diversity & Inclusion

What's next is building off of the analysis done and actually creating a step-by-step 5-year plan to implement in increasing diversity and inclusion through local communities with NASA JSC.
