Inspiration

Meals are more fun when you can share them with people in your community. DineNdash is a solution to lonely solo meals in front of boring TV screens. Find meal sharing in your area, join with a group of new or old friend, and split when you're done!

What it does

As a Host, register a meal you're preparing to make and share with others. Tag it with dietary restrictions, pictures of what it will (or what you HOPE it will) look like and give your main entree a name. Invite guests or wait until guests find you. Enjoy good conversation and sharing your culinary skills with others.

As a Guest, find meal sharing closest to you and in which neighborhood. Search or filter by dish name or dietary restrictions. View guests currently attending a meal along with their hobbies and interest (and set you own hobbies for other guests to view). Join a meal and enjoy with good food and conversation.

How I built it

node.js backend servies, Firebase database and react-native front-end for iOS

Challenges I ran into

Loading meaningful data for templates, building backend services, integrating 3rd party APIs for Cincinnati Open Data and CredoEx and connecting it all with react-native

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We created a fully-functional app from mockups to completion during our 24 hours. We had time to complete our MVP and iterate on it to enhance the product and experience for our users.

What I learned

I personally learned a lot more about node and was able to be part of my first react-native app. As we team, we worked with multiple API services and overcame issues with react-native
