Inspiration
The concept is mostly original, but it takes inspiration from Shadows of Doubt and other AI-driven games.
What it does
This is a VR game where you play as an interrogator investigating the crime of Don Horatio's murder. The player is provided a set of evidence and can ask questions to AI-driven suspects in order to determine the guilty party.
How we built it
We developed the game using Unity as the engine, the OpenAI GPT-3.5 Turbo model for character dialogue, the LMNT API for text-to-speech, Blender for 3D models, GitHub for version control, and the Hugging Face API for speech-to-text.
Challenges we ran into
Finding APIs that met our requirements and fit within our budget was a challenge. Learning the new OpenXR update also presented difficulties. Additionally, we faced hardware issues during the development process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we were able to find a way to seamlessly integrate all of the various APIs we used, that we were able to develop a fun and original concept for the game, and that despite missing a team member, we still managed to create a decent final product.
What we learned
We got a better understanding of how to use GitHub for version control, learned how to incorporate AI elements into game projects, improved our skills in using VR technology, and learned how to use APIs.
What's next for Digital Dead-duction
Giving the AI the ability to automatically generate its own cases and having a greater variety of text-to-speech options.
