Because all of the creators of this project, Yujin, Prathika, and Yifan, have family members who suffer from diabetes, we chose to bring awareness to the condition and its characteristics. The problem we are addressing with this project is the fact that our audience is undereducated about diabetes, which is a condition that affects roughly 11.6% of the American population (38.4 million people). We address this issue with our interactive website that has statistics on diabetes, as well as other information.

Our website is a basic informational site that shares information on the different types of diabetes, the symptoms, the causes, and the ways to remedy it.

We built this website using the language HTML and the website replit.com. Because we weren't familiar with website-building languages like HTML, JavaScript, and Flask, we used a lot of different online resources as guidelines, such as YouTube tutorials and AI generation.

Our team is full of beginners in computer science. Going into the Hackathon, we weren't familiar with any website-building languages and didn't have a standard guideline or direction to begin with. Getting started was the most difficult part of this project because we were full of creative ideas and inspiration, but we lacked the coding knowledge and capacity to execute the code to a satisfactory level. We also were forced to restart or code a multitude of times due to issues with code requests and other bugs, which was not only a lack of progress in our project but also mentally discouraging.

Throughout this Hackathon, our greatest accomplishment was not giving up and ending with a functional product that fulfilled our goals.

With the help of the mentors and the resources available to us, we learned basic coding with HTML and dabbled in many different coding languages that we had no familiarity with.

With the resources offered by Blu's Hackathon, we hope to expand our coding education and knowledge. We all have a strong passion for educating others on diabetes and its effects due to our connections with family members who suffer from the condition. We hope that we can expand the scope that our project reaches with the extra education that Blu's Hacks will offer.
