DEV: DOESN'T EVEN VVORK

Inspiration

We were inspired by Goldman Sachs workshop on understanding digital innovation in financial technology. We wanted to create a project that analyzed stocks over time and related them to social media influences.

What it does

DEV is a flask based web app, and can be used to find stock charts indicating buys,sells, hold. The stock market can be confusing for many starters with so many new terms, files, and opinions. The app takes in any stock ticker and then makes a graph with analyst recommendations, along with a 1 year period candlestick graph.

How we built it

This full stack web application was built using, Python using flask and matplotlib Backend also used the finhub recommendation analyst API, as well as HTML and CSS

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we faced was finding a way to implement the graphs on the web app, and linking the python with the HTML. Another problem we faced was staying up throughout the challenge since we all love to sleep. But with the power of Thomas, youtube, stack overflow, and red bull we were able to overcome these challenges

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overcoming the challenge to implement the graph from the Flask server into the HTML page. Efficient use of API from FINHUB ,and Staying up the entire night to complete the project Efficient teamwork

What we learned

We learned how to use basic HTML and CSS. Also we learnt how to implement a framework using flask.

Next we need to clean up the website and the smaller details to make it more user friendly. We’d also like to implement a feature where the stock analyzer will be able to print a graph that shows how many times a stock has been searched up so the user can see if the stock is a hot topic during that time period
