Inspiration
We were tremendously inspired by hardships of the cultivators and helplessness of the public because of the rising inflation in cost of indispensable vegetables.
What it does?
So with the help of the following analytical tools,techniques, and open data available, we can draw out a conclusion that targets the regions where demand-supply is poorly maintained and thus implement strong actions to resolve the cause of disruption in the food supply chain. This in turn can assist the Government to provide region-targeted financial aid as well as equipments, farming techniques, GM Seeds etc for better yield. This is beneficial for both the consumers and cultivators as this can retain a healthy relation between the two. This symbiosis would result in reducing inflation of price upto an extent and thus improve the economy.
How we built it.
We built the project using the data available through a wide plethora of websites (kaggle, Agricultural Statistics,ICAR,NHB etc.). The functions include finding the places of highest disruptions, areas of more strong government intervention, soil type and methods practiced etc. The project processes the data in the dataset using the Python and perform the functions given by the user accordingly.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges we faced were storage of high amounts of data and weather unpredictability.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to reduce the extent of prevailing problem of disruption in the supply-demand chain. This could be an eye-opener for the government authorities to provide aid to the needy as well
What we learned
We realised the fact that many regions in India as well as the globe suffers from the problem of inflation and food availability. We were also able to understand how the weather influences the growth and production of crops and how it creates the disruption in the demand-supply chain. We also came to understand how the type of soil influences various crops as well.
What's next for Demand-Supply Enhancer
We are going to explore the realm of open data for more concurrent topics like environment sustainability,fuel emissions, accessing healthcare to remote areas ,etc. We plan to learn more about these issues and thus expand our knowledge our knowledge for the same and improve the economy as well as our lifestyle.
