We demonstrated our data collection toolkit with the demo described below.
Demo:
This demo scenario, 4S(Solar System Scale and Size), is an interactive VR simulation that explores relative distances and sizes of objects in our Solar System using virtual planet models. 4S is based on Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which is a representation of what students need to do in order to learn science and understand the nature of science. In the simulation, students are tasked to produce a relative distance model of the Solar System with the information provided in UI in which they also need to assign relative sizes to each planet. This demo is an example of what educational data can be collected through our data collection toolkit.
Analysis:
From the data collected from our toolkit, our team has also analyzed the data to gain useful insights from it. For instance, we have analyzed the change in the location of the user throughout the session, to find out where the user had stayed for most of the time. Also, the analysis of the movement of the headset, controllers and the objects enables the users to intuitively discover how they have interacted with different objects throughout the simulation.
