Inspiration

Dating violence is recognized by the CDC as a serious public health issue, affecting millions each year. It impacts both physical safety and mental wellbeing, causing anxiety, trauma, and harm. As a woman who dates, I know the feeling of excitement mixed with nervousness when meeting someone new. I wanted to create something that gives people confidence and protection, addressing both the physical and emotional health challenges of modern dating.

What it does

Dara (Date Alert Response App) is an AI powered safety companion that protects your health and wellbeing while dating. It helps users: Protect physical safety with AI powered safety analysis of your date plans, including risk scores and personalized tips Reduce anxiety by having a backup plan and an AI companion always there for support Escape uncomfortable situations by triggering realistic AI generated fake phone calls to give you an excuse to leave Support mental wellbeing through chat with an AI companion anytime for advice, excuses, or moral support Alert trusted contacts with one tap SOS that sends your location to your safety circle Track active dates with a real time timer and location sharing during dates

How I built it

Challenges I ran into

Integrating multiple AI APIs and handling rate limits Creating a UI that feels calming and trustworthy while dealing with serious safety topics Making the fake call feature sound natural and believable

Built a fully functional app in under 72 hours Successfully integrated two AI APIs (Gemini + ElevenLabs) Created a beautiful, intuitive UI that feels like a real consumer app The fake call feature actually works!
