Inspiration
A few weeks ago, we went to the Cherry Blossom Festival, a Japanese event in our local area. This event intrigued us into wanting to learn more. We decide to start learning about Japan and their culture, but we were shocked to see that there were no resources that could help us learn more about Japan and their lifestyle.
What it does
We built an app that can educate people on different cultures around them. This app can revolutionize the world by showing people how life works in different areas and how it differs from their own cultures.
How we built it
We used React-Native and Visual Studio Code to build our app. we used Visual Studio Codes liveshare feature to collaborate and communicate and work together swiftly and simply.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we ran into were that we had lots of arguments and disagreements on how our app's layout would look like. Also we found that many times our code kept getting deleted for no reason. But the biggest challenge we faced was the time crunch.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The biggest accomplishment that we are proud of is us being able to make a full working design on a unique idea to solve a unique problem. Our frontend looks really good and it works amazingly. We are only in 8th grade and we have only been using React Native for a few months.
What we learned
The biggest things we learned are how to work together as a team. We learned from each other, whether it was coding tips, presentation skills, to even collaborating and working together to build something we all are interested in.
What's next for Culturify
Over the next few years, we plan to build this app into something revolutionary. We want to turn the world of culture into something everyone is educated about. We want to add various features to make our app run smoothly and be reliable, convenient, and simple.
