Inspiration

We were inspired by the events that are held at Wellesley College for Cultural Events, the Mid-Autumn Festival in particular. We wanted to create a centralized location to showcase cultural events. There is always so much to learn from other people!

What it does

CultureAtlas, provides users with a plethora of cultural events, festivals, and more, all in their area. From Latin Music Nights at your local club, to a LGBTQ+ Friendsgiving Potluck! You can filter the events based on your own interests. All the tags are input by the event organizers themselves, so they can dictate how to best identify their culture and event. Which brings us to the another feature of planning events! In CultureAtlas you can create an event for the app's community to see. There's also an ability to see what events your friends are going to, and the app also recommends events, and friends, based on your favorite tags.

How we built it

Our group built CultureAtlas Using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

We had high hopes of developing our project with hard code, but ran into issues upon set-up that held us back. Nevertheless, we persisted and created our app in Figma.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're always proud of our Teamwork! Working in a group of three can be hard, but we always make time and space for each other's ideas.

What we learned

We wanted to create a friendly, yet sophisticated feeling app. To do this, we used the overlay feature for menus and pop-ups. This was something we had to look up online. We also used online resources to learn how to unify elements to create exactly what we wanted.

What's next for CultureAtlas

We would love to include a backend to implement this app for the greater Wellesley and Boston community. We would also like to partner with local organizations and businesses to help promote their events.
